Light pure alkali, scientific name sodium carbonate, non-toxic, chemical formula Na ₂ CO Å, belongs to the salt category. Sodium carbonate containing ten crystal water is a colorless crystal, and the crystal water is unstable and easily weathered, turning into a white powder Na2CO3. It is a strong electrolyte, has salt permeability and thermal stability, is easily soluble in water, and its aqueous solution is alkaline.

Health hazards of soda ash: This product is irritating and corrosive. Direct contact can cause skin and eye burns. Inhaling its dust and smoke during production can cause respiratory irritation and conjunctivitis, as well as nasal mucosal ulcers, atrophy, and perforation of the nasal septum. Prolonged contact with this product solution can cause eczema, dermatitis, corn-shaped ulcers, and skin relaxation. The incidence rate of respiratory diseases among workers exposed to this product increased. Misadministration can cause gastrointestinal burns, mucosal erosion, bleeding, and shock.

Toxicity depends on the ions after hydrolysis. Pure alkali includes sodium ions and carbonate ions, which are prone to combine with water to form alkalis, exhibiting not toxicity but alkalinity.
